Martha Jean Mitchell Holmes Kerby, age 88 of Russellville, passed away on Sunday, January 07, 2024, at her residence.
Mrs. Kerby was born on Friday, May 10, 1935, in Russellville, Alabama. She attended Mountain Star Elementary and Russellville High School. She worked at several textile plants and later found her calling as a caregiver and private sitter. She was always a hard-working woman who loved her family and friends very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Richard L. Holmes, 2nd husband, Raymond M. Kerby; son, Dale Kerby; daughter, Juanita K. Schultz; grandchild, Kerrie Martin; great-grandchildren, Kason Gist, Hudson Ford, Tiffany Cole, Zachary Cole, Eli McDougle; parents, Alvie & Lela (Pennington) Mitchell; siblings, Reba M. Patrick, Jack Mitchell, Elizabeth Hatton, and Jimmy R. Mitchell.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Brenda Cole (Norman), Barbara J. Davis (Danny), Joan McDougle (Wayne), Ann Woodruff (Douglas), Harlan Kerby; daughter-in-law, Judy Kerby; son-in-law, Tim Schultz. She was blessed to see her family grow to include 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces & nephews.
The visitation will be 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2024 at Spry Memorial Chapel. The funeral will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Jeff Fleming officiating the service. The burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery.
