A Graveside Funeral service and Interment for Martha Jane Terry Sexton, 88, will be Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 1:30 PM at Mt. Tabor Cemetery with Bro. Gary Linville officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Thursday, July 27, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Peck Funeral Home.
Mrs. Sexton died on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Summerford Nursing Home. She was born February 26, 1935, in Lawrence County, to Earnest Terry and Geneva Agee Terry.
She was a receptionist for Decatur Hearing Aid prior to her retirement and she was a homemaker while raising her children. She was a member of the Methodist Church but regularly attended the Shoal Creek Baptist Church with her daughter and family, in her later years. She loved animals and feeding the squirrels and birds at her home. Before her body and mind failed her, she would likely be found gardening or working various jobs in the community.
Preceding her in death were her husband: Ernest Sexton, her parents, a brother: Earnest Webster Terry, a sister: Laverne Jeffreys, and a grandchild: James Ryan McCaghren.
