Martha Jane Stell Bullen

 Martha Jane Stell Bullen passed away at 98, at her home (as she wanted) July 21, 2024. She was born May 2, 1926 to William David Stell and Jessie Ramsey Stell in Russellville, AL. She married Ed Bullen July 10, 1943 in Lebannon, TN where he was stationed before going to Europe to fight in World War II. They were married sixty-seven and one half years until his death on January 10, 2011.

Jane graduated from Russellville High School where she was a cheerleader. While Ed was at war, she attended the University of Alabama and also joined the war effort manufacturing large artillery shells. She was a devoted homemaker, worked hard freezing and canning food from their garden or farm and was an excellent cook. She played golf when she was younger and was proud to place or win a tournament at the country club. Bridge was a regular activity. As a charter member of Weatherford Library, she remained on the board until her death. Since she loved flowers, she was a longtime Red Bay Garden Club member.

Funeral services will be Saturday, August 3, 2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Red Bay, AL with Rev. Tyler Blevins officiating. Burial will be in Red Bay City Cemetery next to her husband. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Yarber and husband, Richard of Huntington Beach, CA; son, Randy Bullen and wife, Martha of Hammond, LA; grandchildren, Vicki Yarber Sommers (Bill), Greg Yarber (Christine), Valarie Bullen Graziano (Philip); great-grandchildren, Holly Porter Schulz (Austin), Zac Porter, Jane Sommers, Stell Yarber, Kate, Sarah and Ashley Graziano; great-great-granddaughter, Reagan Schulz; nieces and nephews and her constant friend and helper, Judy Bullen.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, parents, brothers, William and Wyatt Stell, son-in-law, Harmon Yarber and grandson, Thomas Bullen.

Pallbearers will be Greg Yarber, Philip Graziano, Max Bullen, Max Bullen, Jr., Bill Stell, David Stell, Mark Stell and Shane McNeil. Honorary pallbearers will be Judy Bullen, Sissy Stell, Janice Lackey, Benny Goodwin, Jerry Newell and Mike Faust.

Jane requested no flowers and memorials may be sent to First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 126, Red Bay, AL 35582 or the Weatherford Library, P.O. Box 2002, Red Bay, AL 35582.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 3, 12-2 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Red Bay, AL.
