Obituary of Martha Diggs Martha Diggs, 90 years 5 months, passed away on Monday, July 22, 2024 in her home in Pinson. She was surrounded by loved ones at the time of her passing.

Martha was born on February 22, 1934 in Lexington, TN to the late John and Annie Pearl Williams. She was the youngest of five children, the little sister to four older brothers. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Howard Williams, Lanois Williams, Oliver Williams, and Maxell Williams.

Martha married Paul Earl Diggs on December 31, 1950, in Corinth, MS. They had one son, Paul Michael Diggs, of Pinson. The family lived in many places through the years, Michigan, Illinois, and Tennessee.

Martha is survived by her son Mike (Debbie) Diggs, her nephew Harold (Debbie) Williams, her sisters in law Linda (Jerry) England, and Ella Mae Diggs. She is also survived by her grandchildren Bridget (Lincoln) Diggs Fernandes, Amber (Grant) Cogbill, and Matthew (Zandrea) Diggs. She was also the great grandmother to Ruby Diggs, Rory Diggs, and Olive Diggs.

Martha spent her time cooking for those around her. She could be found in the kitchen daily whipping up the delicious food that her family enjoyed regularly, particularly the family’s weekly Sunday lunch.

Her Mississippi mud cake is rivaled by no other. She found a love for coloring over the last ten years and could often be found sitting at her kitchen table working on a masterpiece. She loved her family, her cat Pebbles, westerns, a morning cup of coffee, and a good snack.

She found love in her work as a housekeeper at Regional Hospital for 34 years. Martha had a personal relationship with the LORD and was a member of Pinson Baptist Church.

A service to celebrate the life of Martha Diggs will be held on Thursday, July 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm at the South Chapel of George A. Smith and Sons. Burial will follow in Bear Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends and loved ones beginning at 11 am, two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorials in Martha’s memory be directed to Pinson Baptist Church.
