Martha Dean Black Powers went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 2, 2023. Martha was born February 15, 1943 and lived this life for 80 years. Martha was a native to Colbert County Alabama and attended Deshler High School. Martha was a beloved and devoted wife and mother who loved and dedicated her life to Jesus Christ. Martha was a member of Highland Park Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals Alabama and attended Angie Gasque’s Sunday school class.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents Fred and Mary Black and stepson Rick Powers.
Martha is survived by her husband of 48 years, James E. “Bo” Powers; son, Dean Murray (Karen); grandchildren, Laura Lowry (Jeffery Franks), Kristen Pierce (Vince), David Toone, Randy Toone (Sara), Brionna and Abagail Stricklin; great-grandchildren, Ayden Lowry, Brooklyn Pierce, Kinsley Murray, Emery Toone, and Lawson Pierce; sister, Ann Fuller (Lomax); brothers, Glenn Black and Jimmy Black (Maxine); many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 7, 2023, at Elkins Funeral Home from 9 AM to 11 AM. Funeral service will follow at 11 AM in the chapel with Ted Vafeas and Bubba Cole officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills in Birmingham at 3 PM.
