Martha Conaway departed this life on Friday, August 7, 2015, at the age of 73 years and 20 days. She was born in Morris Chapel, Tennessee on July 18, 1942, the daughter of the late Cleo and Emma Barron Cooksey. On April 5, 1958, she was united in marriage to Gilbert Keith Conaway, who survives.
Martha had worked as a van driver before retiring. She had previously worked at Garan Manufacturing, QMart in Adamsville and Selmer, and was the owner of Morris Chapel Grocery Store. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother of three boys. She enjoyed cooking and spending quality family time together. Martha was a member of the Adamsville United Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Keith Conaway of Adamsville, Tennessee; sons, A. Granville Conaway and wife, Elaine of Savannah, Tennessee, R. Byron Conaway of Selmer, Jeffrey C. Conaway and wife, Tina of Savannah, Tennessee; sister, Cheri L. Hill of Adamsville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Scott Conaway, Jessica Donovan, Nicole Conaway, Celeste Conaway, Brennan Conaway, Courtney Conaway, Camryn Conaway, and Misty Conaway; great grandchildren, Keaton Conaway, Cason Conaway, and Kinsley Conaway.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Emily Phillips and Peggy McFalls; brother, James Cooksey; grandchild, Kevin Conaway.
