  F.11.15.24 Martha Farr.jpgMartha Brewster Farr “Sister”, 91, Sheffield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. Martha was a devoted mother, grandmother, friend, and teacher. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 16, at Grace Episcopal Church, Sheffield, beginning at 11:00 a.m. with the Reverend Danielle Thompson officiating. A time of visitation with the family will begin immediately after the service.

Martha proudly served as a vestry member and member of the Altar Guild and the Women of the Church at Grace Episcopal. She was a graduate of The University of Alabama and a member of Chi Omega Sorority. Martha received her master’s degree from the University of North Alabama. Following in the footsteps of her parents, Martha was an educator. She was the beloved teacher of many students whom she adored. She taught third grade and kindergarten at Southside Elementary School in Tuscumbia, retiring after 27 years.

Martha is survived by her children, Lucinda Farr, Carol Lee Libell (Gary), and Charles Brewster Farr (Tracey); sister, Carol Brewster Craig; and grandchildren, David Parks McKinley, Jr., Emma Anne McKinley, and Charles Brewster Farr, Jr. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude Matthew “CM” Brewster and Marguerite Johnson Brewster; brother-in-law, Hugh Boyd Craig III; and grandson, Claude Brewster McKinley.

Memorials may be made to the Friends of the Sheffield Public Library.
