Martha Ann (Carter) Chaffin returned Home to her Savior and reunited with her beloved husband of 62 years, James Otis “Buddy” Chaffin, on February 16, 2022. Born on June 19, 1933 in Sylacauga, Alabama to Herman Isaac and Corrie Mae Carter, Ann attended Sylacauga High School where she was active in the choir and became head cheerleader her senior year. Ann married Buddy in 1952, and the couple moved to Huntsville in 1959 when Buddy obtained employment at Redstone Arsenal. Ann was a stay-at-home Mom until 1970 when she began working at Kent’s Dollar Store. After a few years at Kent’s she went on to work at Alabama Baby, and then at Martin Naturalizer Shoe Store (in the Parkway City Mall) until she retired in 1994. Ann was an active member of the University Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, Bible Drill, and served on the Teller Committee. Ann is survived by her children, James O. (Sharon) Chaffin Jr., Jeffrey L. (Lisa) Chaffin and Joni (Bryan) Walker. Grandchildren Andrea (Chase) Hall, Grant Chaffin, Bryanna (Alex) Gowan, Macie Chaffin and Mackenzie Chaffin and great grandchild Myles Chaffin, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation for Martha will be held Monday, February 21, 2022 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Rd Ne, Huntsville, Alabama 35811. Following the visitation will be a Celebration of Life Service at 1:00 PM at Valhalla Funeral Home Chapel, 698 Winchester Rd NE, Huntsville, Alabama 35811.
