Martha Adeline (Eckard) Fenner – Obituary

Graveside service for Martha Adeline (Eckard) Fenner, age 83, of Decatur, will be Tuesday, September 30, 2014,  11:00 a.m. at Roselawn Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Steve Bateman officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Fenner, who died Saturday, September 27, 2014, at NHC Healthcare, was born March 10, 1931, in Madison County, IL, to Wayne Eckard and Nona Hinton Eckard.  She was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Fenner Beans.

She was a devoted believer and follower of Jesus Christ, and her family and friends may take comfort in knowing she has gone home to be with her Lord.  Mrs. Fenner retired from J. C. Penney, and worked as a teller for Renasant Bank.  She loved birds, photography, and doing good deeds.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, William Fenner of Decatur; one son, David Fenner (Dawn) of Decatur; one daughter, Laura McWhorter (Joel) of Decatur; two siblings and one cousin, Lyle Eckard, Lois Eckard Doyle, and David Hinton (Cynthia), all of Illinois; seven grandchildren, Shane Beans, Sarah Beans, Samuel Beans, Will Fenner, Eric Fenner, Michael McWhorter, and Anna McWhorter; and three great-granddaughters, Kaitlyn Beans, Karlee Fenner, and Ivey Fenner.

The family would like to thank Hospice of the Valley and NHC Healthcare of Moulton for their compassionate care of Mrs. Fenner.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Neighborhood Christian Center, 619 Bank Street, N.E., Decatur, AL 35601.
