Marta Escobar-Romero, age 85 of Belvidere, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2020 at the Waters of Winchester. Ms. Escobar-Romero was born on October 20, 1934 in Ponce, Puerto Rico to the late, Andres Escobar and Georgina Romero. She was employed for many years as a teacher and was selected as the Best American Teacher in 1983. She was a member of the Federation Business, and Professional Women. She is survived by her daughters, Lourdes H. Rodriguez, of Papillion, Nebraska, Margarita Rodriguez of Council Bluf, Iowa, Maria I. Dittmar of Belvidere; son, Julio Rodriguez of Dupont, Washington; grandchildren, Wesley A. Dittmar, Ines E. Rodriguez, Jonathan Rodriguez, Julio Rodriguez IV, Loraine Fontanez, Omar Rosario; great-grandchildren, Aliah Rosario, Adreanna Bailey, Gianna Carrion, and Aden Rosario. Visitation will be held from, 5:00-8:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be at 12:30 P.M. on Sunday, September 13, 2020 in the chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home, with interment following at Franklin Memorial Gardens.
