Marshann D. Smith, 88, of Huntsville went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 7, 2023.
Mrs. Smith was born in Joplin, MO on January 26, 1935, and was raised in El Paso, TX. She met and married her husband, Bill, and they moved to Wichita, KS. They started their family while living there and were blessed with a daughter and a son. In 1963, the family moved to Huntsville, AL. She was originally a member of Whitesburg Baptist church for many years, where she taught children and youth Sunday school. She was also active in the Women’s Ministry. She later joined Willowbrook Baptist Church and was a member of the Grace Sunday School Class. Outside of her church involvement, she volunteered in various community organizations.
She deeply loved the Lord and her family. She was known for her sweet, gentle, and Christlike spirit. She will be missed greatly.
Marshann was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Smith. Survivors include daughter, Cheryl S. Matey and husband Peter, of Hendersonville, NC; son, Mark E. Smith of Huntsville; and grandson, Joel Matey of Dallas, TX.
A private graveside service will be held at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Kids To Love Foundation, Willowbrook Baptist Church Local Missions Fund, or Hospice Family Care of Madison County.
