Marlynn Rhyne, 86, of Moulton, passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 at Brookdale University Park Skilled Nursing in Birmingham. Visitation will be from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at First United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM at the church with Rev. Eric Brown officiating. Burial will be at Moulton Memory Gardens with Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Born on November 15, 1937 to the late Eugene and Ora Hill Norwood, Marlynn was a very active member of the First Methodist Church of Moulton, and Morgan-Lawrence Medical Auxillary. She served as President of the State of Alabama Medical Auxillary and worked at Redstone Arsenal for several years. Marlynn loved gardening, walking, cooking, taking care of her dog and being active in her community. A former band member for the University of Alabama, she loved music in all its forms. Above all else, she loved traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her children, Melinda (Peter) Wolverton, Robert Rhyne III, and Patrick (Laurel) Rhyne; grandchildren, Jackson Wolverton, Anna Wolverton, and Lily Rhyne; brother, Bobby (Debra) Norwood; the niece, Sandra Jeanne Norwood; nephews, David Wayne Norwood, Robert Douglas Norwood, and Jason Merrell Norwood; and extended family.
Marlynn was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Robert Rhyne, Jr. MD; parents; brother, Neal Norwood and his wife, Sheila Greengrass Norwood.
Pallbearers will be Jackson Wolverton, Bobby Norwood, David Norwood, Jason Norwood, Robert Norwood, Jerrod Bradford, Edward Norwood, Myles Terry, Colin Terry, Caden Norwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church or the Lawrence County Public Library.
