Graveside service for Mr. Marlon Wayne “Bill” Mansfield age 83 of Nashville, will be conducted Friday at 11 a.m. at Lincoln Cemetery with Rev. Don Russell officiating. Mr. Mansfield passed away Tuesday morning at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
A native of Lincoln County, Mr. Mansfield was the son of the late Zack Taylor & Eula McCrory Mansfield. He attended Lincoln School and Central High School where he played football and basketball. He served in the Air Force in the Korean War and was an Airman First Class. He and his family moved to Nashville in 1954 where he worked in construction while attending Barber College. He owned the Thompson Lane Barber Shop for a number of years. Later he was employed and retired from Purity Dairies where he worked as a mechanic. His favorite pastimes were things that he grew up doing, working on vehicles including his lawn mower and cars. He enjoyed killing hogs and making his own sausage. He was known for the large garden he planted every year and enjoyed sharing with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife Annie Lee Thompson Mansfield, daughters Kim Hoscheit and husband Jon, Kathy Huggins and husband Larry, grandchildren Matthew Garner, Craig Huggins and wife Lindsay, step-grandchildren Melanie Harris and husband Duane, Jon Hoscheit Jr. and wife Jennifer, James Hoscheit and wife Arika, sisters Onis Goode and husband Paul, Pauline Norman, seven great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Mr. Mansfield was preceded in death by brothers and sisters Lee Earl Mansfield, Leonard Mansfield, Louise Simmons, Ila Beavers, Mildred Steelman and Jack Mansfield.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5 8 p.m. at Higgins Funeral Home.
