She was a member of Creek Path Baptist Church in Guntersville, and she insisted her children be raised in a Christian home. She was a member of the Rocket Westies in Huntsville, where she enjoyed numerous close friendships. She loved to travel and perform ballroom, zydeco and west-coast swing dances.
