It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Mark Craig Olson. He left this world to join our Lord and Savior on February 6, 2024 at the age of 73. Mark was born on December 21, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois.
Mark was a devoted Christian who lived his life with kindness, compassion, and a deep sense of gratitude. He was a pillar of strength for his family and a source of unwavering support and love for all who knew him. His humor, stories, and infectious laugh touched the lives of everyone he met, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In addition to being a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather, Mark was also a successful businessman who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was a man of integrity and wisdom, always willing to lend a helping hand or offer words of encouragement to those in need. He was an extremely talented musician, artist, and craftsman of many trades. He loved all animals but formed particularly strong bonds with dogs throughout his life. They held a very special place in his heart.
Mark is preceded in death by his mother Shirley Olson, father Robert Olson, and his brothers Randy and Thomas Olson. He is survived by his loving wife Violet Olson, his sons Christopher Mackenzie, Daniel Olson, Keith Olson, Ronald Mackenzie, William Mackenzie, and his cherished grandchildren Savannah Olson, Alex DeBrosse, Emily Smith, Graven Olson, Jordan Werle, Chase Werle, Spencer Mackenzie, and Austin Mackenzie. He is also survived by five great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will miss him dearly.
A memorial service to celebrate Mark’s life will be held on March 9th, 2024, at Gillman Springs Baptist Church 1351 N Brindlee Mountain pkwy, Arab AL 35016. Family Visitation will start at 1pm with the service starting at 2pm.
