Marjorie Miller Hubbard, born Marjorie Louise Miller on January 3, 1938, in Fort Worth TX, died on Christmas Day 2024 in Huntsville AL. Marjorie (known as Margie, Marge, Mimi, and Mom) will be remembered by many for her faith, work ethic, and devotion to fitness, especially running. After attending Texas Tech, she helped support a growing family by teaching elementary school in Lubbock TX. Later, Margie returned to teaching in New Jersey before earning her MBA at Fairleigh Dickenson University. Margie dove into the business world where she held various roles in marketing. She wore power suits to work, started jogging before it was popular, and held the Alabama 5K state records for women ages 80, 81 and 82. She was an avid fitness buff, still running and doing her Royal Canadian Air Force exercises until the end. Marge was a wonderful baker and enjoyed cooking meals and entertaining family and friends.
She was an avid community and church volunteer at Huntsville First United Methodist Church, Meals on Wheels, and Huntsville Botanical Garden Guild. She took a very active role in the church, serving as a lector, Stephen Minister, and a strategic leader for the vision of the FUMC. Marge also worked until she was almost 85 – her final job may have been her favorite, working as a sales consultant at Talbots!
She will be remembered fondly by her husband, J. Daniel Hubbard; sister, Sue Day (Roy); daughters, Charlotte Teklitz (Matt) and Melinda Peterson; stepchildren, Jill Smith (Garry) and Joel Hubbard (Grace); grandchildren, Sam, Claire, Catherine, Rachel, Mattie, Zechariah, Lange, Hannah, Lydia, and Adam; great-grandchildren, Owen and Cash; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. on January 25, 2025, at the Huntsville First United Methodist Church in Huntsville AL.
