Marjorie Leann Wright Barr passed away the evening of November 24, 2023, at her home in Mooresville, AL at the age of 72.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Sam Barr, and her parents, John Eugene Wright and Cornelia Kay Wright of Decatur, AL. Leann is survived by her brother, Steve Wright (Teresa); sister, Jane Barran (John); nieces, Leslie Wright Braswell, Caroline Barran Klingler, and Emily Barran Van Der Veer; and nephew, Chris Wright.

Leann was a graduate of Decatur High School and Auburn University. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. After forty years, Leann retired as Director of Human Resources from American Cast Iron Pipe Company.

Leann’s professional affiliations were Birmingham Society for Human Resources Management, National Management Association, ACIPCO Chapter, Executive Advisory Council for Special Studies University of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama Health Council, Blue Ridge Conference on Leadership Board of Directors, and Momentum Women’s Leadership Alumni.

Leann served generously in many organizations including the International Women’s Forum (IWF) Leadership Foundation Fellows Program and was a Founding Member of the International Women’s Forum of Alabama. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Junior Achievement of Greater Birmingham, Inroads/Birmingham, and Girl Scouts.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 1 at 11 a.m. at the Brick Church in Mooresville, AL.
