Marjorie Evelyn Stooksberry, born February 15, 1948, quietly and peacefully died July 20, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center after an extended illness. A native of Wayne County, TN, she spent her last years in Leoma, TN. She wrote the column “This N That Here N There” for the Democrat Union newspaper, and wrote a poem for each column. A member of Williams Chapel Freewill Baptist Church, but she visited many churches, especially in support of young preachers, family members, and friends. She loved gospel music and became friends with many groups locally and professionally over her lifetime. She loved good food, laughter, flowers, and sewing. She made not only her own wardrobe, but others in the past years.

Though a victim of polio at age 10, she always had a smile on her face, a listening ear, and a joy for life that most people don’t have. She encouraged others and if you ever met her, you never forgot her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Erbie and Pearl Daniel Stooksberry; four sisters, Pauline Williams, Lucille Moore, Annie Holden, and Clura Richter; three brothers, Edward Stooksberry, Alvin Stooksberry, and Terry Stooksberry; one niece; and two nephews.

She is survived by her loving fiancé, Lonnie Adams of Lawrenceburg, TN; one brother, Elzie (Brenda) Stooksberry of Trussville, AL; ten nephews and four nieces whom she claimed as her children, their children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A special thanks to Maury Regional Medical Center, NHC Scott, Caris Healthcare, and all the family for helping with her care.
