A funeral service for Marjorie Ann McLeod Redden, age 91, of Fayetteville, TN, will be held at 2pm on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Fayetteville First Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Johnson officiating.  Burial will follow at Unity Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 12pm until 2pm on Saturday at First Baptist Church.

Marjorie, affectionally known as Marj, was born March 15, 1932, in Pike County, AL to the late Robert Theral McCleod and Irene Peebles McLeod. She graduated from Howard College (now Samford University). She retired from Lincoln County Hospital where she worked for many years as Director of Social Services, continuing to work part-time for the department after retirement. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fayetteville. Marj loved God, her family, her friends, and her community. She had a cheerful spirit and genuinely cared for others, participating in various fundraising and volunteer activities in the area. She was very active in her community, graciously serving with the Lincoln Hospital Volunteers; in the Fayetteville Christian Women’s Business and Professional Group; and was active in prayer and Bible study groups in the area. She was a long-time member of the Junior Round Dozen Club. As a breast cancer survivor, she served on the Fayetteville area breast cancer support group; and in the local chapter of the Relay for Life of which she had been a member since its inception. She was a former Hospice volunteer in Lincoln County for many years and was a former member of the Fayetteville Rotary Club. She was so proud of her community, and she dearly loved her fellow citizens and many friends of Fayetteville and the surrounding communities.

She peacefully transitioned into her eternal home on October 10, 2023, while visiting Tom and Janet in Concord, NC.

Survivors include her sons, Thomas Walter Redden, Jr., and his wife, Janet, of Concord, NC; David McLeod Redden and his wife, Valerie, of Henderson, NV; grandchildren, Thomas Walter Redden III,  Andrew Bailey Redden (Lydia), and Jessie Walker (Jamie); great-grandchildren, George, Will and Sophia; Wade (Gini) and Paul Mooney, Robert and Lloyd (Robin) Andrews and many other loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marjorie was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Walter Redden, Sr.; brothers, Purser Livingston McLeod and Robert Floyd McLeod, and beloved sister, Evelyn McLeod Andrews.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to Our Father’s Arms, P.O. Box 1158, Jacksonville, AL 36265, or make a donation to a charity of your choosing.
