Marion Doris Walters Linde Profile Photo  If you are reading this in your Journal or Courier, it means I have gone to my heavenly home. Let us rejoice!

Marion Doris Walters Linde, 90, died Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Sanctuary Hospice in Tupelo, MS. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on August 12, 1933, to Marion Ball and Eric August Walters. She graciously shared her home with her big brother, John Charles, and her big sister, Margaret Ann. They had such fun! They all loved to swim. Mrs. Marion and her sister, Margaret, shared a love of horses and riding. They also enjoyed tennis.

She attended Kendall College in Evanston, Illinois and then went to work at International Harvester’s main office in Melrose Park, Illinois.

She met her dear husband, Eugene Linde, and married in 1960. They built their dream house in Elmhurst, Illinois. She became very involved with The Pink Ladies,  (Elmhurst Junior League) of Elmhurst Hospital and even got Gene to work there with her after church on Sundays, sorting and delivering the Sunday Chicago papers to the patients and staff.

Fourteen years later, they moved to Tupelo, MS with the move of his plant, FMC. It took her a week to fall in love with the south and Tupelo, many thanks to Annie Laura Bishop. It took Gene three weeks longer when he realized he would be able to play golf all year ‘round.

Mrs. Marion and Gene were led to First Presbyterian Church where “Church Family” became a reality.

They enjoyed their life here until Gene suddenly went home to God in 1996.

The remaining years were filled with such dear friends, whose names she wished to list but would have to rent the whole newspaper. Such dear and loving people.

She really liked, but maybe not in this order, reading, walking, her friends, dogs, horses, and any kind of animal except armadillos. Her neighbors were all gifts to her. More like family.

In one word, she can describe her life in Tupelo. Joy! Mrs. Marion said before she passed, “Thank you for the blessing of your friendship and love.”

Visitation will be 10 a.m. until service time Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Pegues, Tupelo.

Services honoring her life will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2024, at the Jefferson Street Chapel of Pegues Tupelo with Rev. Dr. Ron Richardson officiating. Graveside services will follow at Tupelo Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Drew Robertson, Antone Tannehill, and Jim Hamblin.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Tupelo Lee Humane Society at P.O. Box 1185, Tupelo, MS 38802, and The Sanctuary Hospice House at P.O. Box 2177, Tupelo, MS 38803.
