Marinola Massey Profile Photo Marinola Massey, a longtime resident of Nashville, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the age of 99. She was born on January 6, 1924, in the Globe community of Marshall county, the first of three children born to the late W.C. and Dessa (Barron) Beech. She is preceded in death by her beloved brothers, George and Harold.

Marinola graduated from Marshall County High School in 1942 and married the late Wilfred Massey in 1950. She is survived by her children; son, Mike Massey; daughters, Susan Rutherford (Sam) and Patricia Cooper (Kent); grandchildren, Sam Rutherford, Will Rutherford, Lyn Rutherford, Sally Peay, and Jake Massey.

Marinola, nicknamed “Nono” by her first grandchildren, was mother to everyone. She doted on her grandchildren, teaching them to be nonjudgmental and to follow their hearts. She loved her garden, and, in true Southern fashion, always offered to prepare a meal for anyone who dropped by to visit. Full of life and love, she was always the center of attention at any gathering.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to the staff and caregivers at the Lodge at Natchez Trace for the exceptional care and compassion given to their mother.

No services are currently scheduled.

Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home is honored to assist Marinola Massey’s family with arrangements. Condolences may be extended online at www.billsmcgaugh.com.
