A native and life-long resident of Hornsby, she was the wife of James R. Hanna, whom she married on September 12, 1964. Her parents were the late W. D. Knight and Pansy Knight.
She retired from Hornsby Elementary School where she worked as a teacher’s aid and in the school cafeteria. A member of the Hornsby Baptist Church, she had formerly taught Sunday School and worked with the youth. For many years, Mrs. Hanna would work as a babysitter for children in the Hornsby community. Many of those children, she would come to care for as she would her own. She liked walking to maintain her health and, in later years, loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years, James R. Hanna of Hornsby; two daughters, Robbin Hipskind (Garrick) of Lacey’s Spring, AL; and Heather Harris (Matt) of Silerton; her sister, Carolyn Faye Morgan (Dudley) of Michie; and two grandchildren, Payne and Patience McCumber.
