Marilyn Jean Hayslip, 81, of Portsmouth, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, surrounded by family in Athens, Alabama.
She was born August 12, 1942, in New Boston, OH. The daughter of the late James Arthur “Junior” and Sarah Elizabeth “Sadie” Combess. She was an RN in Portsmouth OH, until she moved to Upper St. Clair, PA where she briefly worked at St. Clair Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. She retired from nursing to be a full-time Mom. She enjoyed volunteering with the Upper St. Clair School District as well as the Upper St. Clair Athletic Association. Her great passion was sitting with her friends at a baseball field from little league to USC HS. She also loved sitting in the stands or in the audience cheering and supporting her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Amy Lynne Podobnik (Jeffrey) of Florida; Andy Edward Hayslip (Loretta) of Alabama; James Patrick “JP” Hayslip (Ashley) of New Jersey; grandchildren Major Tyler Edward Podobnik (Alexandra); Cooper Jeffery Podobnik; Conner Edward Hayslip; Hunter Patrick Hayslip; Trever Andrew Hayslip; Joshua Cambell Podobnik; Gabrielle Olivia Hayslip; great grandchildren Sadie Ann Podobnik; Hugh Edward Podobnik; Charles Edward Hayslip.
She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Charles Edward “Ed” Hayslip; and mother and father-in-law late Clarence and Agnes Hayslip.
