Marilyn DuCasse, 88, of Hazel Green, Alabama, originally of Brooklyn, New York went to be with the Lord and was reunited with her husband of 36 years on Sunday.

She was a Christian who exemplified a servant’s heart through her work as a registered nurse and in her church where she taught children for many years.  She enjoyed singing and had used music to share her faith since she began ministering with her dad in New York when she was twelve years old.

Marilyn was known as “Granny D” and was loved by many children who she served over the years.  She believed that teaching was communication of life. She was also a devoted mother and prayer warrior.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth William DuCasse;  By her parents, Warren & Charlotte Buchholtz;  By her grandson, Robert Simpson; By her step-mother, Frieda Buchholtz, and her grandmother, “Grandma Yankee.”

Surviving family members include her daughter, Karen (Robert) Simpson Sr;  Her son, Kevin DuCasse; Her son, Kenneth (Sharon) DuCasse Jr; Her daughter, Donna Lee (Wayne) Ostrzycki;  Her granchildren: Charlotte (James Bert) Simpson-Parnell, Justin DuCasse, Bryan (Whitney) DuCasse, Barbara Jean (Kenneth) McKenzie, Dustin (Christina) DuCasse, Christopher DuCasse, Dallas DuCasse, Kathryn (Matthew) Williams, Faith (Calvin) Keating, Seth DuCasse, Caleb (Kristin) Simpson;  Her great-grandchildren:  Allyson, Robert, Grayson, Leona, Ember, Blair, Amelia, Hayden, Blake, Laila, Levi, Sarai, Samantha;  Her sister, Lois (Robert) Raplee.

A graveside service will be Friday at 2pm Eastern time at Charlotte Memorial Gardens in Charlotte, North Carolina.
