Funeral service for Marie Stinson Holmes, 87, of Somerville will be today, October 22, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Peck Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend John Smith officiating. Burial will be in Red Oak Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holmes, who died Sunday, October 20, 2013, at Falkville Health Care Center, was born November 23, 1925, in Morgan County to Andrew David Stinson and Annie Mae Lindsey Stinson. She was a homemaker and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great- grandmother. Mrs. Holmes served as the secretary for 15 years and was a member of the Cotaco United Methodist Church. She also was a substitute teacher at Cotaco School. Her passions were family, her church and traveling. She was preceded in death by her son, Dennis Holmes; her parents; four brothers and five sisters.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Noel Holmes; her son, Jeff Holmes and wife, Sherry. She is also survived by her granddaughter, Brandy Bedingfield and husband, Scott, and their children, Jacob, Kalyn and Ally and her grandson, Dwain Holmes and daughter, Faith. She is also survived by her grandson, Dennis Holmes II and wife, Missy, and their daughter, Jacky, and her granddaughter, Cindy Holmes and her children, Madison and Kayli.
Pallbearers will be Scott Bedingfield, Dennis Holmes II, Dale McCutcheon, Jerry Thomas, George Holden Jr., and Mike Gibson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dwain Holmes and Jacob Bedingfield.
