Marie Seever, 94, of Middleton

Mrs. Seever passed away Saturday morning, March 18, 2017 at her home near Middleton.

A native of Tipton County, TN, she was born Tuesday, September 26, 1922, the daughter of the late William Henry and Donia Gillihan Cox. On Saturday, May 17, 1947, she married Mr. Henry Alex Seever and their union continued for over 55 years until his death on Sunday, July 14, 2002. She lived in Memphis for 29 years where she worked as Head Bookkeeper for A&P Tea Co. for 16 years. The Seevers moved to Hardeman County in 1971.

Mrs. Seever was an active member of the Middleton First United Methodist Church, having served as chair of the United Methodist Women. She also was a member of the Gideons’ Auxiliary, the Middleton Women’s Club and the Tennessee Fireman’s Association Ladies’ Auxiliary. In her leisure time, she enjoyed gardening (especially tending her roses), quilting, cooking and baking.

She leaves her daughter, Susan Ladner (Matt) of Cordova; three sons, Kenneth Seever (Debra) of Middleton, Tommy Seever (Barbara) of Middleton and Wayne Seever (Reca) of Hornsby; Eleven grandchildren, Chris, Josh, Wesley Andie, Kayla and Alex Seever, Tim and Steve McAlpin, Angie Davis, Gina Tulley and Richard Wardlow; and Eighteen great-grandchildren, Chloe, Laney, Hazel, Noah, Luke, Bridget, Breanna and Kegan Seever, Sidney and Ally Davis, Dylan and Jack McAlpin, Gage and Jackson Nixon, Abbie and Lola Tulley, Callie Wardlow and Brooklyn Terina.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, W. M. Cox.
