Marie Nettie Jager, aged 90, passed away peacefully on August 12, 2024, in the comfort of her home in Columbia, Tennessee. Born on September 30, 1933, in Shepherd, Michigan, to the late John F. Hebert and Mary Madilina Priest, Marie led a life marked by love, creativity, and dedication to her family.
Marie was a dedicated Lead Home Improvement Clerk at Meijer for 25 years until her retirement, where her commitment to excellence and friendly demeanor left a lasting impression on colleagues and customers alike. After her time at Meijer, she worked at the YMCA for seven years, where she became the bright, smiling face that greeted members every morning, making each person feel welcome and valued.
A woman of remarkable skill and creativity, she was known for her extraordinary talents as a crafter and seamstress. Her hands, which so lovingly fashioned countless handmade treasures, were a testament to her patience, precision, and artistic flair.
She is survived by her four devoted children: Wesley Jager of Romulus, MI, Cheryl (Jack) Robbins of Duck River, TN, Salene DeFelice of Romulus, MI, and Teal (Doug) Besing-Jones of Naples, FL. As a cherished grandmother, Marie took immense pride in her grandchildren: Amie Jager, Ian Jager, Craig Masson, Jamie (Jerome) Masson-Brown, Ondrea (Frank) Mikolajczyk, Laura (Dylan) Ahrens, Benjamin (Bethany) DeFelice, Spencer (Tiffany) DeFelice, Megan (Joe) Steed, Brittany Besing, Broughan Jones, Kimberly (Joshua) Lancaster, and Konrad (Ana) Jager. Her legacy also includes 19 beautiful great-grandchildren, who will carry forward the memory of her gentle spirit. She is further survived by her daughter-in-law, Debra Jager. Marie was preceded in death by her beloved son, Conrad Jager.
Marie’s warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. She will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be cherished by those who loved her.
