Marie Kathleen Diggle Woodis, age 77 of Barton, won her battle with Alzheimer’s using grace, a joyful spirit, and love. Her family is so blessed to know she is now in the loving arms of God. She was a member of Our Lady of the Shoals Catholic Church and the DAR. Her graveside service will be Friday at 10 a.m. in Barton Cemetery with Rev. Roy Runkle officiating.
Marie married her true love, Walter L. Woodis of Barton and was his devoted wife for fifty-six years. Among those celebrating her going home are her cherished children: Debbie Tubbs (Tony) of Sheffield, Greg Woodis (Julie) of Thompsons Station, TN, and Lynn Henderson (Tom) of Huntsville. Her much loved grandchildren are: Briea James (Jeff), Josh Tubbs (Misty), Andy Jeter (Grace), Beau Woodis (Margaret), Jordan Austin, Regan Austin, Becca Henderson, Evan Henderson and Charlie Henderson, her beloved surviving siblings: Nannette Smith (Buster), Eleanor Hovater and Fred Diggle and a legacy of seven great-grandchildren and precious nieces and nephews.
Marie loved all things nature; her animals, plants, genealogy, travel and serving others as a volunteer at Helen Keller Hospital. Among the things Marie will be remembered for are a warm welcome, iced tea and her homemade buttermilk biscuits.
Pallbearers are Joshua Tubbs, Andy Jeter, Beau Woodis, Jordan Austin, Jeff James and Jim Diggle.
