Marie Collette Julian Maksimowski, 81, of Huntsville, went to see our father in heaven on May 9th, 2022, as her fight with Cancer ended. Marie was born November 26th, 1940, in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the second child of Frank and Ann Julian. Marie attended Saint Rose Catholic High School in Girard, Ohio and graduated in Hollywood, Florida at Broward High School 1958. She continued her studies at Kent State College for 2 years. Marie returned to Hollywood Florida to take care of her sisters and Mother for 1 year. Marie and the Julian family moved back to Girard Ohio in 1959.

Marie met Ferdinand Maksimowski during the summer of 1959. Marie and Fred were married in 1961 at Saint Rose Catholic Church. Fred and Marie had 3 children Richard, Robert, Julie from 1962 to 1966 at which time they lived in various places from New Mexico to Germany. She loved adventure and that love was contagious. She brought her enthusiasm to everything she did.

Sports was a metaphor for learning how to handle life and develop personal character by deciding how you were going to play the game. Her passion was golf; nobody knew the game better. She was a great coach and teacher and had a passion to do so. Marie played girls golf when girls weren’t allowed to play. As a teen she crossed barriers by being a golfing talent that opened doors of mutual respect among genders. She has passed that same passion to her children and grandchildren. She influenced the personal growth and independence of hundreds of young women and girls through LPGA-USGA Girls Golf program of Huntsville as its Director for 18 years. She recently gave up that position after finding security in the new Director. Beyond golf Marie’s love of sport extended to softball, baseball, basketball, football, soccer, swimming, wrestling, and tennis; all of which her children were involved in.

Marie Collette Julian Maksimowski was a daughter, sister, scholar, sportswoman, volunteer, lover, mother, caretaker, comforter, organizer, motivator, inspiration and blessing to everyone she touched.

Survivors include her husband, Fred Maksimowski; sisters, Fran Draa, and Jean Patti; children, Richard, Robert Maksimowski, and Julie Potter; grandchildren, Steven Maksimowski, Joseph Maksimowski, Jacob Maksimowski, Christian Potter, and Samuel Potter; and great-grandchild, William Maksimowski.

Visitation will be from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, May 15, 2022, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, Inc. The mass will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, May 16, 2022, at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
