Marianna McCoy, age 84, of Huntsville, AL, the mother of Dr. Keith McCoy, passed away Saturday, August 7, 2021 in Vernon, AL. A private family Graveside service will be held from the Springdale Cemetery, in Madison, Indiana, on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 10:00am.
Marianna Lyon McCoy was born on August 26, 1936 in Jefferson County, Indiana, to the late Clarence Leslie Lyon and the late Mildred Rebecca Stewart Lyon. Marianna was a 1954 graduate of Central High School in Madison, Indiana, on Ryker’s Ridge. She married the love of her life, Dr. Kenneth Edwin McCoy on June 4, 1961 at the North Madison Baptist Church, in Madison, Indiana. Marianna was a graduate of Hanover College with a degree in Education and later retired as a teacher. She resided in Alabama for 50 years, and remained an active member of the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, Daughter’s of the American Revolution, Athens Alabama Garden Club, and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra Guild. Marianna had a love for her family and friends, her church and music. She enjoyed teaching piano to students from her home through the years, as her health would allow. Marianna was a devout Christian lady and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Huntsville, AL. She loved conversation and socializing, and never met a stranger. She carried with her a gentle spirit of love and kindness, with the warmest smile. She possessed a true spirit of hospitality to all she encountered. She loved and adored her Kenneth Edwin and Keith Edwin McCoy and passed down a legacy of love, wisdom, and caring to all her family. Those who were blessed to know her were truly touched and impacted for eternity and she will be greatly missed.
