Marian Elizabeth Sharrett Bramlett – Obituary

Marian Elizabeth Sharrett Bramlett, 87, of Florence, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013. Marian was born in Portsmouth, Va. to Elizabeth and John Allen Sharrett Sr. on Feb. 14, 1926. She was the third oldest of ten children. She was married and moved to Florence in 1960.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Wayne Bramlett Sr.; and son, Howard Wayne Bramlett Jr., for whom she received the honor of being a Gold Star Mother. She was also preceded in death by three bothers, John Allen Sharrett Jr. and wife, Margret, William Sharrett and Vernon Stanley Sharrett; and one sister, Elizabeth Sharrett Stallings and husband Buddy.

She is survived by two sons, Mark Anthony Bramlett and wife, Rita, and Thomas Glen Bramlett and wife, Cathy; three grandchildren, Nicholas Wayne Bramlett, Taylor Catherine Bramlett and Elizabeth Ann Bramlett; brothers and sisters include, Edward Barton Sharrett, James Herbert Sharrett and wife, Anita, Barbara Sharrett Sivertson, Mary Virginia Sharrett Ramsey and husband, Robert, and Patricia Sharrett Calderazzi and husband, Larry. She is survived by one sister-in-law, Veronica Sharrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Her family would like to express their deepest gratitude to her devoted caregiver and friend, Minnie Shaw. Also, a special thank you to Sondra Keeton, Tracy Hill and Tammy Jones for taking care of Nana and making her so comfortable. Thank you to Hospice of North Alabama, especially Melinda Sherrill, Amy Taylor, KoKo Gabriel, and Keesha Lindley, for providing excellent care.

Visitation will be Saturday Dec. 28, 2013, from 10 a.m. until noon at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in St. Florian. The funeral Mass will be at noon at the church with the Rev. Edward Markley, O.S.B., officiating. Burial will follow at St. Michael’s cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Marty Hewitt, Mike Stumpe, David Lewis, John Connolly, Tommy Stallings and John Sharrett.

Nana was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed by her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Michael’s Catholic Church Building Fund, 2751 Co. Rd. 30 Florence, AL 35634.
