Marguerite Derryberry Sands

Marguerite Derryberry Sands, age 87, a resident of Lynnville, passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Life Care Center.

 

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 from 4-8PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11AM at Lynnwood Cemetery with Milton Stephens officiating. The funeral procession will be leaving the funeral home at 10AM in route to the cemetery. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on December 27, 1932 in Maury County, Marguerite was the daughter of the late Edward Derryberry and the late Frances Shaw Derryberry. She was a graduate of Columbia Central High School. She married Paul Sands on St. Patrick’s Day in 1956; he preceded her in death on June 13, 2019. She was a devoted member of Lynnville Church or Christ. Marguerite was an excellent seamstress who loved the outdoors, gardening, tending to flowers, and working on the farm raising, calves, chickens, peacocks and more. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, listener, mentor, and inspiration to all.

 

She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Terry “Die Hard”) Davis of Columbia; brother, Buddy (Carolyn) Derryberry of Columbia; sister, Melba Pollard of Columbia; granddaughter, Cassie (Andrew) Massey of Mt. Pleasant; great grandchildren: Myleigh Massey, Dale Massey, Hunter Massey; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Paul R. Sands; sisters: Betty Ann Derryberry, Anita Derryberry Childers; grandchild, Amanda Leigh Davis.

 

Pallbearers will be: Jon Pollard, Jim Pollard, Clint Derryberry, Casey Derryberry, Rocky Derryberry, and Ed Childers. Friends of Lynnville Church of Christ, the memory care “Gardens” staff at Life Care Center, Lisa Tiller, Dorothy Mesnage and Gary “Colonel” Littleton will serve as honorary pallbearers.
