Graveside Services for Mrs. Margie Leen Clark Denney, age 82 of Ashland, will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 at Lystra Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Bruce Willis officiating. There will be no public visitation prior to the service.
Mrs. Denney passed away on Friday, November 19, 2021 at the Clay County Nursing Home. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County, graduated from Lineville High School, worked in the cotton mills after High School. Once she started a family, she was primarily a stay at home mom and was a housekeeper. She also worked as the housekeeping manager at the Lineville Health and Rehab for around 10 years. Outside of work, she enjoyed working on puzzles, listening to music, and enjoyed being outside in nature, often looking for squirrels, butterflies, and she enjoyed birdwatching with her daughter. She was a loving mother, grandmother and was a member at Corinth Baptist Church.
She is survived by one daughter, Debra McCain (James “Scooter”); two grandsons: Christopher Bradley Haynes (Brandi) and Corey Joseph Haynes; one great-granddaughter, Callie Madison Haynes; one sister, Marie Conville, all of Ashland, plus a large extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents: William Rufus and Vernie Irene Sergeant Clark; her husband, Lowell Parson Smith; one son, Anthony Clay “Tony” Smith; three sisters: Willie Bell Kellum, Eva Suggs, and Christine Shaddix; and two brother, Howard and Edward Clark.
The active pallbearers will be Christopher Bradley Haynes, Corey Joseph Haynes, James “Scooter” McCain, Keith Smith, and Perry Meek.
