Margarete Julian “Judy” Manning Benefield, 83 of Corner, died Sunday April 9, 2023 after a rapidly progressive dementia. She was on Home Hospice at her daughter’s home.
Mrs. Judy taught kindergarten at Hillview Baptist Church for several years in the 70’s. She kept many children in her home in Forestview Estates. Several from nursery babies through till kindergarten. For her 80th birthday, we had a wonderful gathering with those “kids”, who are now adults, with their own children. She, enjoyed that day of hugs, laughter and reminiscing.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Bill Benefield; parents, Jack and Christine Manning and sister, Debra Manning.
Survivors include her children, Janet Smith (Smitty), Christy Carlson (Lance), Dennis Benefield (Deanna) and Dale Benefield (Mindy); grandchildren, Malena Rathbone (Russell), Christa Rodriguez (Joe), Darbey Benefield, Kerry Smith (Hannah) and Drue, Dalton, Blaine and Brady Benefield; great grandchildren, Connor and Logan Rathbone and Mac Smith; brother, John Earl Manning (Wanda) and a special caregiver and friend, who was so present and helpful through this last year, Krysten Hocutt.
