Margaret Weatherby Trousdale, 84, a lifelong resident of Colbert County, took the hand of her Lord and entered into her eternal reward after passing peacefully at her home in Leighton on Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013.
She was active in her church and various community ministry organizations within the area, most recently being a member of First Assembly of God of Muscle Shoals.
Margaret was born Jan. 17, 1929, in Tuscumbia, Ala., the daughter of the late Owen and Ethel Johnson Weatherby. For many years she was an active community member, civic leader and businesswoman in the Shoals area and is best known as the owner of Margaret’s Florist. She loved to sing and go ballroom dancing. One of her most beloved hobbies was weekend “yardsale-ing.” Margaret was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who always put her family first building a legacy of living fully and loving completely. Her laugh and positive spirit affected positively all those in which she came in contact. She will be loved and remembered “forever and always” by those who knew and loved her.
Margaret is survived by her loving, loyal husband, Stanley H. Trousdale, of Leighton; and her children, Carl Owen Overton, of Tuscumbia, Thomas Calvin Overton, of Tuscumbia, and Traclyn Overton Cook, of Cleveland, Tenn. Also, she dearly loved her extended sons and daughters through marriage. In total, she leaves 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
A remembrance of life ceremony will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at Colbert Memorial Chapel and will be officiated by the Rev. Phillip Cook Sr., of Thomasville, Ga. The family will welcome extended family members and friends for visitation at 10 a.m. before the ceremony. Interment will follow in the Colbert Memorial Gardens with Wesley Overton, Matthew Cook, Vic Ragsdale, Eric Trousdale, Steve Kirkland, Terry Kirkland, Josh Kirkland and Tim Cook serving as pallbearers. Mike Trousdale will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
