Age 88, died peacefully on November 9, 2023, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospice Care in Edgewood,
Kentucky, after a brief battle with pneumonia.
Margaret was born on November 13, 1934 in Federal Point, Florida to Henry A. and Lucille A.
M. Roberts. Margaret was married after a short, sweet courtship, to John H. Smith, for 63 years
and 7 months. Margaret was a member of several churches after she became a Christian in 1962
and was an active member in all of them. Her membership was at Baldwin Heights Baptist
Church in Cullman, AL at the time of her death. Margaret attended night school in Moore
Haven, FL and received her high school diploma in 1978 at the age of 43. She graduated with
honors and was salutatorian of her class. Margaret worked at Moore Haven Elementary School
as a teacher’s aide. After 19 years she retired. She loved working with children, and they loved
her.
Margaret moved to Kentucky in April, 2022 to be cared for by her daughter Linda and her son in
law Ron, due to a long struggle with diabetes complications.
Margaret is survived by three brothers, two sisters, several nieces and nephews, and her seven
children: Wanda S. McEarchern (Robert), Linda K. Crisp (Ron), Deborah E. Plemmons (Ivan),
Virginia A. Williams (James), Judith L. Titus (Mike), John H. Smith, Jr. (Elaine), Kenneth L.
Smith (Kim), 26 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. She
loved each and every one dearly.
She is preceded in death by her husband John, her great grandchild Jackson Johnson, her father
and mother, her brother Russell and her sister Norma.
Margaret will be greatly missed. She is now in heaven with John (Her Sweetie) and is rejoicing
with the angels.

The viewing, funeral service and grave side service will be held at Baldwin Heights Baptist
Church, located at 2489 U.S. Hwy 278 W, Cullman, AL 35057 on Friday, November 17, 2023 as
follows: Viewing at 11:00 a.m., service at 12:00 p.m. with Rev. Ron Crisp officiating.
