Margaret Lochridge Lyle

Margaret Lochridge Lyle passed away on February 19, 2024 at Sanctuary Hospice House in Tupelo. Margaret was born on December 27, 1934 to Jasper Kenneth Lochridge and Azalee Shotts Lochridge. She graduated from Tremont High School in 1952 and attended Itawamba Junior College and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1955.
She was married to Edwin Lyle on December 2, 1956. She taught high school English at McComb High School, Okolona High School, Sherman High School, and Mooreville High School. She was a teacher for 35 years. She was chosen as Star Teacher 4 times and received Newsweek 1992 Sallie Mae Teacher Tribute Award. She was nominated for this award by Sherry Willis who was the 1992 Sallie Mae First year teacher award winner. Sherry named Mrs. Lyle as the person who inspired her to become a teacher. She was also named outstanding secondary educator several times. Margaret was member of Christ Community Fellowship in Hamilton, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Azalee, her husband, Edwin and a grandson, Jeffrey Scott Kennedy.
Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Services will be at 11am on Friday February 23, 2024, at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Preston Headrick and Bro. Greg Cook officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 – 7pm on Thursday February 22 at Senter Funeral Home.
Margaret is survived by her four children: Lynn Patterson (Jerry), Lisa Nunnery (Martin), Eddie Lyle (Renate) and Lance Lyle. Survived also by her three grandchildren: William Taylor Kennedy, Claire Robison Garnett, and Allie Lyle Real (Matthew) and by five great grandchildren: Emory Garnett, Evan Garnett, Collyn Trentham, Rhett Real and Alec Real.
Two sisters surviving are. Elizabeth Harrell (Jimmy) and Marian Cannon. She is also survived by an aunt, Corinne Lochridge Jones, niece, Denise Harrell Hamm, and a nephew, Kevin Harrell and many cousins.
