Margaret Kraff Mitchell, 90, passed away peacefully Sunday, October 13, 2024, at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice surrounded by loved ones. Born December 22, 1933, in Trier, Germany, her childhood shaped by her early years of growing up during World War II. She married the love of her life Omri “O.T.” Mitchell in 1958, after completing his time in the U.S. Airforce they returned to the United States and made their home in Mooreville, where Margaret mastered the English language and obtained her citizenship. In 1968, they started the family business Mitchell Insulation, which is still in operation today. Together they had four children, Mike (Freda) Mitchell, Paula Virginia Mitchell, Kenny Mitchell, and Steve (Debbie) Mitchell all of Mooreville, six grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Margaret was best known for her unique personality, outspokenness, and her love of hats, which she usually wore on Sunday mornings to Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy where she was a member for over 60 years. She loved reading her Bible, watching westerns, and Southern Gospel music.
The family would like to thank the staff at Creekside Manor in Saltillo for their love and care for Margaret while she was a resident there for the last 1.5 years and NMMC Hospice for their care.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Omri “O.T.” Mitchell; and her mother, Clara Kraff.
Visitation will be 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday and 11 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy.
Services honoring Margaret’s life will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy with Bro. Ryan Napalo, Bro. Phillip Carr, and Chaplin John Cagle. Graveside services will follow at Union Grove Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery with Bro. Wayne Thorne officiating.
Pallbearers will be Chance Reese, Bryson Burleson, Will Barber, Landin George, Hudson Mitchell, and Ayden Burleson.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cameron Mitchell, Mason Simpson, Ty Mitchell, and Jax Mitchell.
