Margaret Jones Wade, age 92, of Scottsboro, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2025. She was
born on July 28, 1932, to George and Lily Jones and grew up in Skyline, Alabama.
On July 16, 1949, she married Hugh Clay “Hook” Wade. They were married for 72 years until
his passing. Margaret was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister,
and sister-in-law.
Margaret is survived by her children, Mike (Cindy) Wade, Sue (Doug) Balch, and Shannon
(Tim) Dalton; grandchildren Curtis (Keri) Porter, Nick (Kelli) Wade, Brian Balch, Jason Balch,
Keli (Will) McInnes, and Cheyenne Dalton (Wyatt Silman); great-grandsons Camden Porter,
Cohen Porter, Reegan Hawkins, Brayden Hawkins; and great-granddaughter Addison Wade. She
is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Doug) Kirkpatrick, Helen Wade, and Dorothy
Jones.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Lily Jones; her husband, Hugh Clay
(Hook) Wade; daughter Sandra Wade; brothers Bud Jones, Tot (Barbara) Jones, Tommy Jones,
Talton Jones, Harold (Beulah) Jones; and sisters Fannie Lee (Walter) Holt, and Ida Belle (Edd)
Derrick.
Margaret was known for her love of family. She had a special way of bringing people together
around the dinner table, and her meals were enjoyed by many, especially her famous pintos and
cornbread, vegetable soup, and dressing with giblet gravy.
A service to celebrate her life will be held on March 11, 2025 at Scottsboro Funeral Home. Visitation
will be from 11:00-2:00 with the funeral service at 2:00, with burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Curt Porter, Will McInnes, Nick Wade, Wyatt Silman, Camden Porter, and
Cohen Porter.
Margaret’s warmth, kindness, and devotion to her family and friends will be remembered always.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
