Mrs. Margaret Hester of New Market passed away on Sunday. She was 97. Mrs. Hester was born in Franklin County, Tennessee to the late Arvilee & Bessie Holman Medley. She had lived in the New Market community for many years. She received salvation at the age of 14 and was a faithful Christian and member of Mountain View Free Holiness Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years in 1994, James Hester; her daughter, Glenda Keel and son-in-law, J.E. Keel; her son, Dawson Hester; her daughter-in-law, Norma Hester; her brother, Grady Medley; her sister, Dorothy Rogers.
Surviving family members include her son, James “Jimmy” Hester; her daughter-in-law, Patricia Hester; her sister, Emma Longmire; her nine grand-children: Leigh Ann Holcomb, Shane Hester, Chris Hester, Ricky Hester, Darryl Keel, Michelle Keel, Shona Hester, James Hester, and Jason Hester; She is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends. She is also survived by her dear friends who were like family, Olivia and Aleyah Teague.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5pm until 7pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1pm at the funeral home with Brother Bruce Brazier officiating. Burial will follow the chapel service and will be in Taylor Cemetery in New Market.
