Funeral service for Margaret Evelyn Rich, 90, of Decatur will be Thursday, November 7, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Martin Valcarcel and Reverend Jeremy Nason officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Rich, who died Sunday, November 3, 2013, was born January 6, 1923, in Birmingham to James Newsome and Willie Mae House Newsome. She was a mother, housewife, well respected antique dealer of 44 years, and co-owner of the Rainbow Drive-In. She supported Wounded Warriors and knitted hundreds of sweaters for orphans in foreign wars. She was a devout Christian. She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Dudley Rich; one son, Ronald Dudley Rich; one sister, Elizabeth Barnes; and one brother, James Newsome.
Survivors include one son, Greg Rich and his wife, Sonja; one sister, Francis Lewis; two grandchildren, Mark Rich (Elizebeth) and Shannon Polles (Jim); and five great-grandchildren, Ellis Rich, Sam Polles, Maggie Rich, Jack Polles and John Polles.
Pallbearers will be Elliott Montgomery, Wayne Sandlin, Mark Rich, Jim Polles, John Coffey and Jeff Sellers.
Honorary pallbearer will be Sam Polles.
