Mr. Marcus Jones Miles Jr, age 87 of Lineville, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022 at RMC in Anniston. There are no services planned at this time.
Mr. Miles was born in Dunlap, Iowa, but has lived in Clay County since 1979. He served for 21 years and retired from the U.S. Army, ranked as a Sergeant 1st Class. Once he was out of the service, he worked for 26 years as the manager for Ace Storage. Outside of work, Mr. Miles enjoyed volunteering at the Lineville Senior Center and the Lineville Nursing Home. He kept a log book of all the trains that would travel through Clay County. You could always see Mr. Miles driving around town in his recognizable red truck, and was always willing to help someone. He was a friend to everyone.
He is survived by his children: Jacqueline Mairs of Lineville, Daniel Miles of Eufaula, and L.P Miles (Janet) of Lineville; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two sisters: Marjorie McCord of Dunlap, IA and Mary Ellen Wojtkewicz of Colorado; one brother, James C. “Jim” Miles (Marla) of Colorado, plus a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Marcus Jones Miles Sr. and Phyllis Widney MIles; one daughter, Leesa Miles; one sister, Barbie Long; two brothers: Edward Miles and Richard Miles; and two nephews, Roger and Greg McCord.
