Mr. Marchas Bernares WilliamsMr. Marchas Bernares Williams, affectionately known as “Chas,” was born on August 22, 1979, in Huntsville, Alabama, to Charles E. and Marilyn C. Williams.

He graduated from Tanner High School, Class of 1997. He was a PROUD Tanner Rattler at heart. Marchas played football and was known for his signature number 24. After high school, he accepted a football scholarship to play at Bethel College in Tennessee. He later attended Calhoun College in Decatur, pursuing a degree in Computer Science.

He loved football, motorcycles, family, friends, and laughter. He was full of life and loved by many.

Marchas accepted Christ at an early age at Oakgrove CME Church in Athens. He later united with New Life Church under the leadership of Antoyne L. Green. He was an active member, serving dutifully as a Greeter, Armor Bearer, Usher, Custodian, and in any other capacity as needed.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sanaa Williams, his maternal grandparents, Clinton and Helen Collier, and paternal grandparents, Charles and Josephine David.

Marchas’ life will forever be cherished with fond memories by his parents: Charles and Marilyn Williams of Athens, AL; brothers: Brian (Comalethia) Williams of Georgia, Ramsey Swopes of Decatur, AL, and Marcus (Melanie) Williams of Georgia; sister, Charlynn (Curtis) Reeves of Georgia; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the New Life Baptist Church (2314 Hine Street S, Athens, AL 35611) with Pastor Antoyne Green officiating. Interment will be in the Thatch-Mann Cemetery. Mr. Williams will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

The Williams family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at the New Life Church (2314 Hine Street S, Athens, AL 35611).

Public viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Friday, September 27, 2024 at the New Life Church and 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Royal Funeral Home-Mason Chapel.
