The War of 1812 in the South: Causes and Consequences
Sunday, March 8, 2:00 pm
Dr. Tom Kanon will discuss the reasons why the War of 1812 was important to the early southern frontier.
Film Screening: Big Fish
Monday, March 9, 7:30 pm
Prepare for Big Fish author Daniel Wallace’s visit to UNA with this free screening of the film adaptation of his most famous novel. The film will be introduced by UNA English Professor Daryl Brown.
Lego Build Competition
Saturday, March 14 (rescheduled due to weather)
Kids can participate in a Lego competition in Youth Services! Registration required.
Izora the Magical Horse Book Signing

Tom McDonald, younger brother of late historian William Lindsey McDonald, will visit the library to talk about his books When Memories Come Calling and Dirt Road Memories. Both books are collections of true stories of Tom’s experiences from his boyhood, marriage, family life, and career in education right here in the Shoals. Eat Healthy, Be Active PLUS
Thursdays, 10:00-11:00 am, March 26-April 30
If living a healthier lifestyle is one of your goals for 2015, this series is for you. There will be six workshops, each focusing on a low-impact physical activity as well as nutrition tips.
Each session lasts one hour and includes activities such as aerobics, yoga, and line dancing, as well as handouts and videos designed to help you make healthier choices. You will learn about foods to increase, foods to decrease, how to balance calories, and many more nutrition and health related topics. This series is sponsored by Florence-Lauderdale Public Library and the Alabama Cooperative Extension System.
