Mamie L. Cayson was born November 6, 1943 in Lee County unto the late Mary Edward Knowles and Robert Gill, Sr. She departed this life Tuesday, June15, 2021 in her home in Verona, MS. At an early age, she joined Palmetto C.M.E. Church and remained a member until death. She attended Mary C. Wade School, College Hill, and graduated from George Washington Carver in 1964.She retired from Super Sagless Mfg. after 30 years.
Mamie’s hobbies were watching basketball, softball, playing bingo and just enjoying life. She was married to Sammy Cayson September 1965.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her children: Kevin Gill Cayson (Constance), Cheryl Gill Cayson ,Morry Cayson, Murry Cayson and Samuel Cayson;
her siblings: Ernesteen O’Neal (Ed), Robert Gill, Jr.(Dorothy), Marsha Gill, Essie Simmons (Billy), Lula Judon, Leon Gill, Larry Gill (Essie), Cardell Gill
(Heidi), and Marcus Kirk; (20) grandchildren; host of great-grandchildren; (2) great great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends and special daughter-in-law: Lisa Davis. She was preceded in death by her parents, step- parents: Chester Knowles, Sr. and Vertie Mae Gill; siblings: Chester Knowles, Jr. and Flossie Humphrey and special friend: Cecil Hodges.
