Mamie Catherine Benson, 82, of Tuscumbia, died Saturday, July 13, 2013. Her visitation will be Monday, July 15th from 6 pm until 9 pm at Morrison Funeral Home of Tuscumbia. Her funeral service will be Tuesday, July 15th at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Jeff Newton and Jerry Hester officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscumbia Oakwood Cemetery.
Mrs. Benson was preceded in death by her husband, Vernon C. Benson; parents, Oscar and Bessie Borden; son, Larry C. Benson; daughters, Joyce Thomason and Helen Thomas; grandsons, brothers, and sisters. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son, Steve Benson and wife Fairy; daughters, Shannon Algren and husband Art, Vickie Byrd and husband Lannie, Martha Cain and husband Ray; brothers, Johnny Borden, Mac Borden, Franklin Borden, and Paul Borden; sister, Barbara Kennedy; and a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
Pallbearers will be Steven Benson, Michael Davis, SFC William Cooper, J.D. Willingham, Terry Berry, and Larry Benson, Jr.
Honorary Pallbearers will be A.J. Algren, Carson and Caden Benson, Jamey, Gable, and Mathew Willingham, Greg and Cameron Davis, Jeffrey Benson, Chance Cooper, Carlee Benson and Sarah Byrd.
