Funeral services for Major Smith, 87, of Booneville, MS. are set Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at 2pm at Magnolia Funeral Home – EAST with interment in Jacinto Community Cemetery. Bro. Mike Lee will officiate the service. Visitation will be Monday, November 27, 2023 from 5pm-8pm and Tuesday, November 28, 2023 from 1pm until service time at Magnolia Funeral Home – EAST. Pallbearers will be Keith Shettles, Corey Shettles, Cody Thrasher, Riley Jones, Jordan Jones and Johnny Norris. Honorary pallbearers will be Brayden Jones, Spencer Jones, Grayson Shettles, Asher Shettles, Johnny Smith and Jessie Sappington. Born July 13, 1936 in Glen, MS., Major passed away on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at North Alabama Medical Center in Florence, AL. He was a retired route driver for Coca Cola for many years and of the Christian faith. He loved his family and friends and enjoyed hunting, gardening and was an avid fisherman. Those left to cherish Major’s memories are his sons, Shane Latch and Allen Rorie and wife Debbie; 3 grandchildren, Keith Shettles and wife Brandi, Corey Shettles and wife Olivia and Krystal Thrasher and husband Cody; 9 great grandchildren, Riley Jones, Jordan Jones, Kadence Shettles, Brayden Jones, Spencer Jones, Grayson Shettles, Asher Shettles, Paislee Shettles and Kylah Shettles; other relatives and a host of friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life, Martha Sue Smith; father, Lawrence Smith and mother, Selest Smith.
