Mahlon Alvie “Buck” Latham, 87, of Dinwiddie, died Tuesday, May 31, 2016. A retired Army veteran, “Buck” was a member of the American Legion Post 284. He enjoyed working the bingo at the Legion and also his Monday and Tuesday senior bowling leagues in Colonial Heights. Mr. Latham was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Terese Latham; his parents, Abner and Mamie Latham; brother, Carl Latham; and three sisters, Evelyn Latham, Mildred Blaxton and Mozelle Crowe.
Surviving are his three children, David P. Latham and his wife, Sandy, Anne E. Latham and Michael Latham; three grandchildren, Robert P. Latham, Amanda E. Latham and Daniel A. Latham; and his faithful companions, “Homer” and “Roxi.”
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2016 at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home. An American Legion ceremony will be held at 4:15 p.m. followed by full military honors ceremony beginning at 5:30 p.m.
