Maggie Louise Davis, formerly of Athens, died June 26, 2021. A Celebration of Life service will be 11 a.m. today at St. Luke M.B. Church
Maggie L Davis was born February 19, 1923 to Jessie and Ida Lundy in Gainesville, Florida; she was the youngest of 13 children.
She passed away on November 22, 2020 at 9:15 pm at Mount Carmel East Hospital from complications from pneumonia She moved to Miami Florida where she met and married Ollie Moore in 1943 and a daughter was born from that union; Jane Moore, they divorced years later. Moving up north to New York City she met and married Hector Blake; 3 children from that union Murphy, Deborah and Rodney. Murphy and Rodney preceded her in death. She was married to John H Davis for 23 years; he preceded her in death in 1998. She was a former member of Walker Memorial Baptist Church she joined in1987 later to join Union Grove Baptist Church before passing.
She worked at the Plaza Hotel in New York as Supervisor of the Housekeeping Department for 35 years before retiring in 1985.
She is survived by a daughter Deborah Day of Philadelphia Pa.; two sister in-laws Dorothy Smith and Shirley Coleman of Columbus Ohio ,a stepson Dr. John F. Davis, 16 Grandchildren. 26 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren. A host of nieces and nephews from Lundy and Davis sides of the family and cousins, and devoted friend Ed Lowe and neighbors and Staff Of Maplewood Heights Apartments
You bade no one a last farewell, No, not even a good-bye.
You were gone before we knew it; and only God knows why.
