Mae Lou Sandlin Weeks Carter, age 88, of Winfield, Alabama, passed away February 24th, 2015 in the Golden Living Center in Winfield, Alabama.

Visitation, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m., (service time), Friday, February 27th, 2015, at the Bowen Funeral Home Chapel, Winfield, Alabama. Funeral service, 2:00 p.m., Friday, February 27th, at the funeral home, following visitation. Brother Dewayne Smith officiating. Burial in the Winfield City Cemetery, Winfield, Marion County, Alabama.

Lou loved life, church, her family, children, and grandchildren; she loved to paint and loved to teach her oil painting art. She was avid in her church work, quilting, cooking, and keeping her great-grandson Tyler during his young years.

She is survived by husband, Travis Ray Carter; 2 daughters, Dianne (Ronnie) Cockrell, and Myra Weeks; 2 grandchildren, J. Brett Smith and Christie Smith Norris; 2 great-grandchildren, Tyler Tidwell, and Sara Grace Norris; 2 sisters, Betty Riggs and Shirley Williams; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Lillian Bishop Sandlin; her husband, John Cline Weeks, a WWII veteran, and prominent business man and banker for many years; 4 brothers, J.T., Morris, Harold, and Hollie; and 2 sisters, Lennie and Ilene.
